The Humane Society of the United States is overseeing the relocation of 4,000 beagles from a breeding and research facility in Virginia. On the evening of August 18th, a van of these beagles arrived safely at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. 

We’re honored to be part of their healing story. These dogs were rescued from horrific conditions after the facility they were at was found to be in violation of several federal regulations. Animal welfare organizations around the country have stepped up to help and all of the 4,000 beagles are being placed with partner organizations such as Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.

We’re so glad to be able to give these helpless dogs a safe place to go and a better future ahead of them. The dogs were being bred for pharmaceutical research and testing. We hope that their story shines a light on animal suffering that most people are unaware of. It’s heartbreaking that because of their sweet and trusting personalities, they were chosen for testing.

The large tattooed numbers in their ears remind us that before now, they have been just a number. These dogs were treated like inanimate objects and lived a life none of us would want for an animal. Now, for the first time, they will have a name, a bed, a family. They will now have the lives that they have always deserved.

Thanks to Brother Wolf supporters, the pain and neglect these beagles faced will soon be a distant memory. Their nightmare is over.

The rescued beagles will go to loving Brother Wolf foster homes to give them time to settle in and acclimate to the life of a beloved companion. Once they are ready for adoption, they will be posted as available on our website.
