Dear Friend,

Every morning, we wake up knowing that lives are on the line. We drive for hours, through devastated towns and broken roads, to get to animals who need our help.

In the weeks after Hurricane Helene, we’ve met so many people clinging to their pets, tears in their eyes as they share their stories – their losses. The pain is everywhere. And we feel it too. We’ve lost our shelter. Everything we’ve built over the years, washed away. But we’re holding on to what matters most: the animals and people we can help now, in the midst of this devastation.

People are introducing us to animals who they fought to save. Putting their own lives at risk to help animals they had never even met. Animals like Gandolf who was trapped in an outdoor kennel as rising floodwaters took over. A neighbor risked everything to save him, climbing over debris to reach him just in time. He was safe, but sick and needed help that wasn’t available. Thanks to your support that fuels our team’s work, Gandolf got the medicine he needed. He’s healing now and his rescuer told us that “He’s found his family,” that he will be safe with her.

Stories like Gandolf’s are what keep us going right now. Every animal we save reminds us why we’re here, even when it feels impossible. This disaster hasn’t broken us—it’s made us more determined to rebuild and keep doing what we do best: saving lives.

We know there are so many more animals like Gandolf, waiting for help. We can’t turn our backs on them. That’s why we’re announcing the first phase of our rebuilding efforts. Phase One, rebuilding Brother Wolf Animal Rescue as a lifesaving facility with even more capacity than before. This funding will allow us to resume core programs, purchase land on higher ground, and establish the framework of our shelter build project with a firm specializing in building shelters. During this phase, our work for animals will not stop; this is the time when our region needs us the most. We need to rebuild a shelter on higher ground and create a space where animals will always have a place to heal.

This won’t be easy, but we know we can do it, together, with you by our side. While we work towards this goal, we won’t stop. We need you now more than ever. We need people who care, who love animals, to stand with us and help make this happen. Will you stand with us? Will you help the animals who need us the most? Together, we can get through this. Together, we save lives.
