I am writing to you with tears pouring down my face. The emotions from the last few days are bearing down on me. It doesn’t feel real yet – it feels like a nightmare.

If you haven’t heard the devastating news, Hurricane Helene decimated our region. Neighbors have lost their lives, entire buildings have been washed away, and communities that were vibrant a week ago are nothing but rubble. We are broken. We are isolated without power, water, or consistent cell coverage.

Brother Wolf has been completely devastated. We have lost all physical assets. We lost our shelter, a building that has saved hundreds of thousands of animals since 2007. It’s now a disaster zone.

All of our animals were evacuated prior to the storm hitting and are safe thanks to our beautiful community.

The heart of Brother Wolf is not a building; it’s all of us coming together to impact both people’s and animals’ lives in a positive way.

We will rebuild in a new location in Asheville. We are the only lifeline for thousands of animals every year, and this is the time when they need us the most.

This is the time when we need YOU the most, more than we ever have before. With you by our side, we can move through the grief of this catastrophic setback. We can’t do it alone.

We need monetary donations and we need them now.

We know that you understand how critical our lifesaving work is and that it must continue.

Once communication improves and resources become available, we’ll be mobilizing to set up temporary headquarters for our daily operations so we can continue to support animals in need and their people in our region.

We can’t thank you enough for standing by our side during this incredibly difficult time, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With gratitude and hope,
