Get ready for your heart to be filled with the joy of young love! We recently got an email asking for help. This time, it was for something romantic…creating the perfect marriage proposal!
Kolton had planned his proposal to Ashley for months. “My girlfriend’s two passions in life are mountains and dogs. When the time was right, I set up everything I could to give Ashley her dream proposal, but I still needed a bit of help to make her day absolutely perfect.”
He envisioned a mountain hike with a surprise at the beautiful vista: a proposal and a puppy! Our hearts swooned over the precise planning that Kolton had executed, including a generous donation to Brother Wolf with animal rescue being so meaningful to the couple. We just had to be a part of their special day!
A puppy named after a local Asheville brewery, Highland, joined a Brother Wolf staff member on a Roan Mountain hike. They reached the summit and waited for their cue.
Tears of joy fell as Ashley soaked up the romantic scene and Kolton dropped to one knee. Once she said YES, Highland made his grand entrance, barreling happily toward the newly engaged couple with a big, open-mouth smile on his face (just as planned, thanks Highland!).
Ashley and Kolton ultimately decided that their home was full enough with the three rescue dogs they already share their lives with, but Highland will always hold a special place in their hearts as the puppy who was at the start of their happily-ever-after.
Animal rescue is challenging and, as you know, this summer has been full of struggles with so many animals needing Brother Wolf’s help. It’s lovely when we get the chance to be a part of something that is full of pure joy and celebration and we wanted to share this happy moment with you too!
It’s thanks to our supporters that Brother Wolf can spread joy to pets and their people. Over the last few months, around 500 dogs and cats have been adopted from Brother Wolf. Thank you for your support that enables us to save them, heal them, and set them up for a lifetime of love.
